WACO, Texas – Olivia Scattini of LSU Alexandria (La.) claimed the RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award for March 12-18, while VanDer Woody of Xavier University (La.) garnered the RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the eighth set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC tennis season.
Scattini was 2-0 in both singles and doubles as the Generals faced two ranked teams last week. The senior from Concordia, Argentina, won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-2 at No. 1 doubles with Annemart Kleijn against NAIA No. 19 SCAD-Atlanta. Scattini also claimed victories both of her matches as LSUA lost to 11th-ranked SCAD-Savannah. She is 14th in the NAIA ITA singles rankings and 10th in doubles with Kleijn. The Generals are ranked seventh with a 7-2 team record.
Woody won all of his matches in a 2-1 week for the Gold Rush. The sophomore from Baltimore picked up singles victories against No. 20 SCAD Atlanta, SCAD Savannah and No. 6 Southeaastern University (Fla.). He teamed up with Julius Hell to take two matches in doubles, and they were leading the third when it was left unfinished. The Woody/Hell doubles team is ranked No. 2 nationally. Xavier is now 8-8 on the season.
