LSUA's Marcantel, JCU's Moreno secure RRAC baseball weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Peyton Marcantel of LSU Alexandria (La.) was selected as the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week for March 25-31, while Alejandro Moreno of Jarvis Christian University (Texas) picked up the RRAC Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates. This is the 10th set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC baseball season.


Marcantel pounded out two doubles, two triples and seven RBI in a 3-1 week for the Generals. The senior catcher from Eunice, La., was 6-for-14 at the plate with three walks and six runs scored. Marcantel drove in three runs in a 13-8 win over Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Saturday. He now has 17 RBI on the season. LSUA moved to 11-6 in conference play and 14-15 on the season.


Moreno threw a three-hit shutout to help the Bulldogs beat Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas), 4-0, on Saturday. The junior right-hander from Aguada, P.R., struck out five and walked three over seven innings of work. Moreno is now 5-1 on the season with the fourth-best ERA in the conference (2.70). JCU is now 10-9 in the RRAC and 14-12 overall.
