WACO, Texas – Nicholas Brunet of Louisiana Christian University was tabbed as the RRAC Baseball Player of the Week for March 18-24, while Lex Meinderts of LSU Shreveport (La.) earned the RRAC Pitcher of the Week award for the same dates. This is the ninth set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC baseball season.
Brunet went 6-for-12 at the plate with four RBI as the Wildcats won two of three against Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). The junior infielder from Bourg, La., extended his team-best on-base streak to 20 games with a pair of hits in each game of the series. Brunet drove in three runs as LCU won the second game, 7-5, and he finished the road trip with five runs scored, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. He leads the RRAC with a .540 on base percentage, and he is seventh with a .393 batting average. The Wildcats are second in the conference standings at 12-3 with a record of 22-6 overall.
Meinderts held Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas) hitless over six innings in a 10-0 victory for the Pilots. The junior righthander from Rotterdam, Netherlands, struck out one and walked one to earn the win. Meinderts is 2-0 this season with a 0.53 ERA. Third-ranked LSUS climbed to 16-2 in RRAC play and 25-3 on the season.
