ACPA soars in program sweep of Regents Academy

Friday night at the Cain Center held Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's first home game of 2024 for both varsity teams against Regents Academy.

ACPA was in control the entire time on Friday versus Regents Academy. The Lady Storm never trailed in their 44-23 victory.

Rachel Richardson scored 15 points to lead all active scorers

Leading 9-1, ACPA went on an 11-point run to pull further away. They had a strong first half, leading 21-7 at halftime, and never looked back, securing the victory.


The team had six assists in the first quarter, outscoring Regents Academy 16-1.

ACPA also controlled the glass, collecting 37 rebounds. Ali Beth Clarke led the team with eight boards.


Additional scorers for Athens Christian

Preparatory Academy included Samantha Sams (9 points), Normandin (8 points), Clarke (4 points), Lexi Irvin (3 points), Macy Pulley (3 points), and Trinity Williams (2 points).


Regents Academy were led in scoring by Gracie Harman and Rachel Cunyus who scored six points each. Also contributing for Regents Academy were Esther Fairley (4 points), Emma Rasberry (4 points), Emory Cobb (2 points), and Mary Kate Hill (1 point).

Boys Recap

ACPA narrowly defeated Regents Academy, 68-65. Landry Gammon scored 32 points to lead Athens Christian Preparatory Academy and earned the Yosemite Roofing GOAT of the Game. The Storm had a strong first half, leading 37-24 at halftime, and never looked back, securing the victory. Trailing 40-28, Regents Academy went on an 11-point run to close the gap. Trailing 63-56, ACPA went on a 12-2 run to take the lead.

The first quarter was the best for the Storm, as they outscored Regents Academy 19-12.


Marcelo Brown’s team had a great day shooting from inside the arc, finishing 26-43 on twos. Gammon made seven of 13 free throws, and Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Varsity Storm attempted 31. The senior nailed a technical free throw that ended up being the most important of the game. The Storm’s stifling defense resulted in five blocked shots and grabbing 12 steals.


ACPA had scoring contributions from M Koerth (11 points), M Morrow (10

points), N Runte (6 points), C Gaytan (5 points), M Bratton (2 points), and L Compton (2 points) helped out as well.


Stephen Crescenzo scored 19 points to lead Regents Academy. Crescenzo hit two threes too. Additional scorers for Regents Academy included Caleb Beauregard (10 points), Ian Landrum (6 points), Ethan Spradley (6 points), Jonah Shipp (2 points), and Liam Shipp (2 points).
