Kevin Murray named Bishop Gorman Assistant AD


Bishop Gorman has announced the appointment of Kevin Murray as the new Assistant Athletic Director, Murray, who has been leading the boys' basketball team to remarkable success as head coach, will continue his coaching duties while taking on this additional administrative role within the school's athletic department.


In 2018, Murray led the boys' basketball team to victory as Bi-District and Big Sandy Tournament champions, setting the stage for a series of triumphs in the following years. His coaching was recognized in 2019 when he was named East Texas Basketball Coach of the Year and TAPPS 5A District 2 Coach of the Year.


He guided his team to multiple district championships and playoff appearances, including a notable Final Four finish in 2019 and another in 2024. His coaching achievements culminated in being named TAPPS 3A District 2 Coach of the Year in 2024, solidifying his status as one of the top basketball coaches in the region. Murray's impact extends to the broader athletic community. In 2023, he was selected to coach in the Dallas Mavericks (G-League) tryouts for the Texas Legends.


Reflecting on his new role, Murray expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute to the overall success of Bishop Gorman's athletic programs. "I'm excited for this opportunity to work with our AD and all the other sports programs here at Bishop Gorman," Murray stated, emphasizing his dedication to supporting the school's athletic endeavors beyond basketball.
