WACO, Texas – RRAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week have been announced for March 25-31 with this week's honorees including Jalen Bell (men's track – Our Lady of the Lake), Seth Alexander (men's field - Xavier), Kristen Torres (women's track – Our Lady of the Lake), and Victoria Sweeney (women's field – Our Lady of the Lake). This is the fourth set of track & field weekly awards for the 2024 RRAC outdoor season.
Bell and the OLLU team competed against a number of NCAA Division I schools at the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The junior from Killeen, Texas, placed 30th in the 100-meter dash against a field of 109, and he helped the Saints place fifth in the 4x400-meter relay.
Alexander posted his best meet results of the season on Friday at the Southern Mississippi University Invitational. The senior from Arnaudville, La., took first place in the triple jump with leap of 15.10 meters, which is third best in the NAIA this season. Alexander also finished 10th in the long jump and sixth in the high jump.
Torres placed first in the 5,000-meter run at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas. The junior from San Antonio posted a time of 17:42.76, breaking the school record in the process. Torres defeated a field of 38 competitors.
Sweeney claimed seventh place in the javelin at the Bobcat invitational. The junior from San Antonio delivered a throw of 34.30 at the event. Sweeney also placed 30th in the long jump.
